Many know that «Alem-i Nisvan» («Women’s World»), published by Ismail Gasprinsky in 1906-1912, was the first Crimean Tatar (and Turkic-Muslim) women’s magazine in the world. The second such magazine is far less known, and it was published in a completely different era. The first and last women’s magazine in the USSR in the Crimean Tatar language, «Sovet Qadınlığı» (until 1936 it was published under the title «Qadınlıq Sotsializm Yolında»), was published in 1932-1941, and despite its propaganda orientation, it is interesting as an example of the ethnic women’s press of the 1930s and as a source of information about life in Crimea and the changes taking place in the women’s environment of that time.
