Ilyas Musaev is the keeper of a family craft, the history of which spans several generations. A master of sewing traditional Crimean Tatar qalpaqs (men’s hats), he tells how the craft was passed down from great-grandfathers to grandfather and father, why he studies ancient forms of headwear, and preserves them for future generations.
